For some dumb reason I can't get vista to stream stuff over like I could on XP

I did it same way (WMP11, Shared > 360) it finds it but will never play the files what a load of monkey ****

So not only did I waste my friday night installing Vista.. now I gotta re-install XP if I can't get it working :/

So if anybody has any ideas.. :D

(Vista 64 Ulti. - 3800X2 - 2GB - 1900XT)

But it plays my games so much better then first time
If its not one problem its another, and another :/

have you added the stuff you want to stream to media players library?

i ask this as i was having issues streaming on vista, added the stuff to the library and then had no issues

Hehe, do yourself a favor and ditch Vista. You can make XP look like anyways :)

Vista is fine, even better now that SP1 is out and I've had Vista since April 07. :o

Why are you blaming Vista if it's WMP11 that's the culprit?

For the record WMP11 on Vista x64 here streamed to my 360, Laptop, PS3 and so on fine.

Don't go back to XP  IMO Vista is a lot better (for my uses anyway).
I'm also using Vista to stream to PS3, laptops and other PCs.
I don't really know any solutions to your problem, but you could maybe try rebooting your router for starters? Do no files at all play?

ill tell u why

EVERYTIME my 360 turns on, min later my pc keeps freezing
sometimes i get a black screen on pc nothing happens

its ****** up

I got it working fine on my 360 when I had it, when I switched on my 360, vista found the 360 and went through the media extender wizard thingy and everything worked fine

PEBKAC.

I find it hard to believe it's vista's fault, although I don't have a 360, I've never had a problem streaming from Vista 64 to my PS3 or my flatmate's laptop.

i can work it through wmc but its a pile of doop compared to just going to video>pc> then what i like instead of going thru this media center BS

Ive been using Vista x64 for the past year and watch numerous tv shows using media players sharing and Ive had no problems. All I have to do when I reinstall is go into the library options in media player, add folders, allow devices then go into the network settings in control panel and enable media sharing. Its simple.

Sounds stupid but do you have windows firewall on? Try switching it off - its crap anyways
