Hi all

will mostly likely be investing in Windows Vista 64 Home Premium tomorrow

at the moment under XP i have 2 x raptors in raid 0 and to set it up dure in windows set up i hit (f6 i think) to install the relevent drivers from a provided floppy disk, the problem is i cant remember if there were 64 bit drivers on the floppy and i dont even know if thats important?

basically does it work in the same way with vista, will i need to install raid drivers from a floppy? is there anything i should download from various webbies in advance?

thanks

loki

sounds like it could be an easier install process than XP was then :)

i'll be buying from OCUK do u know if their vista's include SP1?

im also thinking i might spend this evening downloading the 64bit drivers for the different apps on my mobo, and my gfx card etc in advance of tomorrow, as i doubt the disk with the mobo includes 64 bit drivers. if i install the disk then download 64bti drivers to the downloaded drivers over write the ones from the disk or will there possibly be conflicts?

thanks

Loki

well im using the onboard raid controller that came with the mobo.

the motherboard is a gigabyte ds3 sorta thing (vague huh)

i noticed on the gigabye website they have downloadable drivers for vista 64 but didnt notice if one of the options was drivers for the raid controller.

right i think tonight then i will download all the 64bit drivers and apps i can think of and shove them on a removable HD that way i can install them if they are needed or if they are newer drives than vista has.

the only thing i might have trouble with is my lexmark printer / scanner as the vista compatability program seemed to think that it wouldnt work under vista.

thanks for the help

lets hope i dont make a total mess of it :)

sounds good to me guys

thanks very much for your help

i'll be popping into the ocuk office tomorrow to get my copy of 64bot vista home premium.

plus a couple of other things i have my eye on :)
