vista 64 back 2 xp

hi
i have vista 64 on my brothers pc and he wants to go back two xp loaded on xp onto a new hd but it just sits blank on load up any ideas? when i put the vista hd back in it loads fine????

Did you not install XP from CD onto that hard drive in your brother's machine?

Oh and full stops do wonders for readability

Do you have any other hard drives connected, it might be trying to boot from a different hard drive!

How did the XP install go, you might need to try again.

do this..

remove vista hard drive
insert empty drive, insert xp disc

go go go

you say new drive, is there now an additional drive in the system? if they are not sata did you check you dont have 2 masters or 2 slaves on the same cable?

when xp had finished loading it restarted and just went blank! instead of loading the operating system
