Hello all.

I installed Vista 64bit (business) about a year ago now. When I first installed there were a few things that weren't compatible or were playing up; microsoft visual studio, netbeans, my linksys wirless adapter, and a few overclocking tools. So instead of faffing around trying to get it to work I installed xp (32bit) on another partition and used that for all my programming/overclocking needs and whatnot.

I've now got a bit of spare time on my hands so I'm gonna format my hardrive and give Vista a proper bash and attempt to do it all without XP. Is this a wise idea or shall I keep XP as a backup? Does anyone still have any problems with incompatible software/hardware under vista, especially the above mentioned apps?

Thanks for any advice.

i'd check for the wireless driver first.., linksys only have drivers for 'some' of their kit

they should just make a generic 64bit driver for all their usb adaptors, it's crazy

I've run Visual Studio 2003/2005/2008 all successfully on business x64.

Netbeans has a known issue, but there is a workaround.

Not sure about the rest.

Well I'm finishing my computer science degree in a few days so I hope that I will never have to touch visual studio or netbeans again :D! I just want to get a general feel for what's working and what's not.

I did get my linksys adapter working last time but I think it was just a bodge driver from a random website so I could probably just do that again, but I would rather do it the proper way.
