Hello,

Here's a question for gamers who are using Vista 64-bit. How's your experience so far?

I'm upgrading to 4GB of RAM soon and thought why not upgrade from XP 32-bit to Vista 64-bit to utilise my extra RAM.

Can you play all the recent titles including popular older ones (from HL2 and games to date).

Thanks.

Running great here so far. Have only tried COD4 and Supcom Forged Alliance so far though. Played plenty of COD4 though, about 10 hours total yesterday :o

PC is running much better as a whole than it was on XP. Was a dirty old install on a slower harddrive though, rather than a clean install on a Raid array :D

No problems here either. If anyone encounters issues, it's normally specific to his/her PC setup and what they did with the system in general. Vista x64 is probably the smoothest new OS for gaming, if you know what I mean.

theres a few games i cant get to run on mine, like dark messiah and splinter cell chaos theory, but everything else i have runs fine.

Both work fine on mine.

The only 64-bit specific issue I've had was trying to install Theme Hospital. The installer is 16-bit, so it won't run! You can just play it directly off the CD though, so it's no real issue. Seen as the game is ancient now I guess we should let this one go!

I've had a few Vista issues, but nothing that has actually stopped any game being playable.

Only problem I have is with COD4 but that is if I choose options on the main title screen before the game has fully loaded which gives me a 'not responding' message. However if I wait for my HD light to stop flashing then everything is fine and can access options or start a game.

No problems with games, but i am having major issues with punkbuster atm so cant play certain games online :S

All my stuff works ok - that's Crysis, Hl2, The Witcher, COD4.

One thing - Crysis 64 took a while to get working - originally didn't like some NVIDIA apps installed, then had some difficulties with the control panel (3D) settings. It's ok now though.

I was worried about C&C working. If you have the original game it won't install as the installer is 16-bit.

C&C First Decade works though - it comes with the new 32-bit installer. And once you've installed it, everything works brilliantly.

Couldn't get Worms Armageddon to run properly (on x86 though) and TrackMania Nations is a bit of a pig to get running from what I found last night.
Other than that though, everything I've tried runs fine for me. Crysis, Stalker, all the source-based games, Bioshock, WoW, etc.

See and yet the media and vista critics don't report the good sides of what is one of m$ best OS's!
It really gets my back up when there are so many people having a great experiance with the OS...
