i know this is a noob question but i thought id just check that games run in 64 bit. i know the point is higher preformance for games (among other things) but many programs have compatibilty problems in 64 bit and a freind cant get some games to work. do only new games work? thanks.

Most games should work. I've not had any problems with games. You can always try the Compatibility option with game exes if you have any problems. :)

Should have no problem whatsoever mate.

Would only be very old games that would maybe have issues - and even then there is pretty simple ways to run them in compatability mode etc.

'Higher performance' is debateable.

WoW, for example, runs exactly the same today (I installed Vista 64 this morning) as it did yesterday (on 32-bit).

I've not tried any other games as of yet but if im honest, from what I've read, with the exception of the benefit of having more useable RAM I don't think you're going to see a lot of gain in Vista x64 over x86 unless you're running programs specifically designed for that environment- I don't know of any games coded like this as of yet.

General operation of Windows actually seems slightly sluggish and laggy/jumpy in the 64-bit version, BUT I'm putting this down to a couple of out of date drivers on the Asus website which I've just replaced with the current ones straight from Intel & JMicron- hopefully this will fix the problem, I wasn't expecting to jump a full gig of useable RAM and see a performance drop so I'll give it a week and hope it just needs settling in- watch this space :D
