I have 174GB of 'unallocated' space on my 1TB HDD. The HDD has 4 partitions on it, plus the unallocated partition. I would like to make the unallocated partition into a 5th partition.

Vista tells me that 'You cannot create a new volume in this unallocated space because the disk already contains the maximum number of partitions'.

So...advice would be appreciated as to how to turn this unallocated space into a 5th partition...(if at all possible).

IIRC you can only have upto 4 primary partitions.
Created an extended partition in it, then a logical one within that, then you should be able to make a few more.

:).

OK...thanks for the input guys...I've decided that it will probably easier to 'start again' as this is a new build and there is nothing to speak of on the pc yet..
I've started another thread on how best to do this..(under 'Messed up installation').
