Vista 64 vs 32bit

Hello All,

I've just ordered a nice Q6700, 4GB, 4850, P45 new build...should all be coming tomorrow.

Im now just contemplating on installing Vista 64 or 32. I believe there are some compatibility issues with 64 bit and some applications not liking it. Is this still true?

What are the performance gains im likely to get with 64bit?

What would you recommend I install? I play a few games, use adobe products and some 3D rendering.

You will need 64bit to use all of your 4gb. I have had no compatibility issues with it since release

No compatibility problems here with 64 bit. Go for it or you wont use all your ram. Almost rude not to get x64 with that spec.

There are a few compatibility issues with older and more obscure hardware, but 98% of what you use will run fine.

This. You'd be limiting your performance with that PC and 32-bit Vista.

I'd go 64 bit for the extra memory and the fact that there is very little in compatability difference between Vista 32 bit and Vista 64 bit.

I have a year old scanner that wont run in 64 bit and some free software everything else is improved

Install 64bit, been running for the past 18 months odd without any major problems.
