Ive just bought Vista Premium Home 64bit from OcUK and been looking around the forums. It seems lots of people have been saying "make sure you have the 64-bit drivers, then get it" but im not sure what you mean? Where can I get the 64-bit drivers, are they avalible off the internet?

Specs

Gigabyte DS3 (rev 1.0)
6300
EVGA 8800 GTS 320mb Superclocked

Please help, The orders just been completed so I cant change it :p

yea you just get them from the site u get your 'normal' drivers from. except you chose 64bit and not 32 bit.. easy :)

So can anyone give me a straight answer. A couple of mates are saying I should have got the 32bit version of Vista and has got me a little confused. Especially when everyone on here when talking about Vista says go for the 64bit version.

Anyone just give me a simple answer, what's the difference between the two? Have I made the right choice?

Hi, I have just upgraded my main to PC to Vista 64bit without any major problems, all my devices installed ok except my Linksys wireless card (this had problems with 32bit) had to connect and download my drivers through my Laptop via Microsoft updates. Now working ok.
All my devices installed ok you will need to download the drivers form their websites.
Itunes coused minor problem now fixed would not burn CD'S.

Short answer Yes you made the right choice.
I have not regreted using 64bit :)

PS Ignor your mates their only jelous :D:cool:

Would anyone recommend purchasing Vista Ultimate Retail edition if I can get it for less than £200? I'm on the fence about it. I can understand > £280 or so being extortionate sounding but is that a good deal?

Personally I cannot recommend the purchase of any OEM version of Windows.
As soon as you replace your motherboard (which you will want to do at least once during the life-cycle of Vista) your license is no longer valid and you'll be expected to buy a new copy.
So for that reason, if you're going to buy OEM I'd say stick to Home Premium at most.
You really won't miss many of the Ultimate features if any and the price is significantly less that buying a replacement license in the future won't break the bank.

True but if you ring up Microsoft and say your upgrading or reformatting still using it for same PC and not sharing it they will reactivate it for you. Im pretty sure I read that somewhere.

PCMag said:
In addition, users should still be subject to the same familiar re-activation restrictions as users of a retail Vista license and Windows XP, a spokeswoman said. Users can alter the PC's hardware substantially, but they will be forced to reactivate – not repurchase the OEM software – if they do, she said.
