I don't know why but I took my Q6600 from 3GHz to 3.2 and put the ram to 1:1 and notice that Vista is snappier, boot time is faster, startup apps load up faster, Photoshop cold starts faster, Firefox cold starts faster and generally everything is faster with such a small OC over the last OC.
Why is this the case when the RAM is running slower @ 1:1 ? or does the increase in FSB and MHz compensate for this and provide more performance ?
The 3dMark Virtual Mark says my system should now get 15400 marks in 06 whilst before it was saying 14700 - a small OC increase like this gains 500 marks ?
Not complaining either way
As a side question, anyone know how to stop ATI CCC from resetting the gfx card's LUT when you load CCC ? I find it does this every now and then and I have to run the LUT loader again to revert to calibrated settings.
