Ok this is driving me nuts! I have Vista x64 and it seems that there's absolutely no way in the world to force a refresh rate higher than 60Hz which producing the most unbelievable tearing in games.
Has anybody managed to find a solution to this because I'm about to throw the whole lot out of the window!

I have issue as my Driver wont install in 64bit for my CRT, I have crap HZ options, just fixed in Rivatuner, it auto guesses them and sets up each RES with a series of HZ.

BTW, get todays new Rivatuner build.

Ah great, thanks Helmut. I'll have a look at that. I have Rivatuner (not today's new release) and I didn't see the options which you refer to. Probably just me being a plum!

Well there is 2 screens, way I did was bottom row of tools, and 2nd last icon on right.

EDIT, Skip this, had to boot into SAFE Mode and remove Rivatuner and Nvidia driver, must have being too high a res on restart, screen went blank.

V-sync on and force tripple buffering with something like DXTweaker might be an option. Depends whether you have an LCD or CRT. With a CRT 60 Hz is no good full stop because of the flickering.

Solution for Vista (64 Bit too):

Look in registry for:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlsSet\Control\Video\{GUID}\0000

Threre is a Key called NV_Modes. You have to change this e.g. like that:

{*}S 640x480=1;800x600 848x480 960x600 1024x768 1152x864 1280x800 1280x960 1280x1024 1600x1024 1600x1200 1680x1050=20; 1920x1200 1920x1440=10;

This is the string I am using with my Sony GDM FW900 monitor (85 Hz in 1900x1200)

look also in:

http://http.download.nvidia.com/Windows/43.45/NV_Compress_Modes_Users_Guide_2.1.pdf

all modes which have =1 after them have only 60Hz alle modes =20 is for 100Hz, all with=10 have only 85Hz. .

I get near that but dont have them entries in Video section.

Think I got it in different layout.

I have =1 and =20 and =b3, when I export it to try copy here it looks very different.

I normally get correct RES+HZ due to Montor driver but not in 64bit, my Monitor normally locks out and I get Red warnign on screen, but this issue above was a simple black screen on startup after I messed about in Rivatuner.

No luck on the last suggestion unfortunately :(
Is seems that the 64bit registry is different from the one you're describing. I did find it in another area, but making the changes had no effect. Thank you for the help though :)

If anybody else has any ideas I'd love to hear them!

Have you tried using a program called refresh force it was made for xp but works for vista, i am currently using the 64bit version too and could not go over 60hz now i can use 75hz which is the max for my monitor. It gets the frequency's and resolutions from the monitor then sticks them into your registry. Here is their site http://www.pagehosting.co.uk/rf/

I did force HZ in Rivatuner but got black screen at boot up.

I need my real Monitor driver but a 64bit version as Im sure it worked in Vista32 at RTM time.

I have googled like mad to try get solution on getting my driver installed.
