It's time to give it another lash but hopefully this time it will stay on the main hard drive. My previous attempt was fruitful but the main source of frustration was the wireless connection. When playing BF2 it added an extra 30-40 ms when compared to the old xp installation. I'm having a hard time finding a suitable wireless usb solution that is supported up front.

My question is to all the 64bit vista users. What method do you use to connect to the internet? and if you do use a wireless usb can you state the model number. Thanks.

Do you have to go wireless?

I think 'wireless' and 'USB' together could be a problem. If it worked in XP before on the same hardware then it could be down to more netowrking components in Vista (IPV6 etc) but I could be wrong.

I always game online on a wired connection (I also play BF2 and BF2142).

SP1 improves wireless networking a lot on Vista.

I use an unsupported Belkin USB wireless adapter with some third party drivers and other than losing connection to my wireless network it seems not to suffer from networking lag any more than anything else over wireless.

Any reason why you are stuck with wireless? I'm actually thinking of going the Home networking over power sockets as it seems to have stabilised into a useable technology now and is only around £40 for a two port starter kit.

I too prefer wired connection for gaming via my trusty Belkin CAT6 cable,I do have my vista laptop that I use for ocassional wireless gaming.

Don't go wireless USB,you are better of going wireless PCI route if you must go wireless gaming, something like D-Link WDA-2320 IEEE 802.11b/g PCI card works fine in Vista x64.
