At the moment i have an old computer that is unable to play any games within 2 years of new, i am hoping to soon upgrade to this system so i can play newer games (crisis, battlefield, cod4 etc):

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp....00GHz @ E8800+ 3.66GHz Dual Core DDR2 System

I am probably going to get vista home premium with it now that SP1 has come out, but i am still undecided whether to go 64bit or 32bit, I want this system to last 2-3 years before it becomes obselete so is it worth going for the 32bit or the 64bit?

One other thing is, would it be worth making the upgrade to 4gb of memory (bearing in mind that it will take the OC down)

Btw: this system is going to mainly be used for gaming, maybe playing some music and chatting on msn but no 3d rendering etc

opinions please :)

First of all, welcome to our forums.:)

Its only really old software that does not work with vista 64.
Plus you can use 4gb ram + which is really helpfull as vista is somewhat of a resource hog.

As for taking down your overclock, im not really sure about that. I found that just raising my northbridge volts where my mem controller is compensated for the extra strain of all 4 slots

Just get 64, seriously :)

ok thanks, unanimous vote for 64 bit :), oh yeah, i'm no overclocker, i only say it decreases the oc because it says under the ram in the spec sheet:

- Award winning OCZ 2GB PC2-8500 (2x1GB) Dual Channel Kit (Overclocked at 1000MHz+) (Upgrading memory to 4GB can hinder overclock performance/speed)
