Vista 9800 Pro ATI problem

Hi,

I've put my 9800 card in the PC I installed Vista on so I could get all the nice glass effects etc.

When I put it in Vista installed some drivers for it like Windows usually does, I then installed the ATI graphic card drivers for vista, there were some errors at the end but they were just something about the download manager not being connected and something else about languages.

Anyway, I checked in the device manager and this is what I get:

I've tried everything I can think of, uninstalling from the device manager etc.

Any ideas how I can fix this please?

Also, the graphic card does not get picked up in the system specs section :(

--Edit--
For some reason the device status didn't show up in the screenshot, but here's what it says:

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

Thanks,
Craig.

are you getting the glass effects with the default ms drivers? i do with my x800gto.

and i find for gaming, i get better performance using the ms drivers as opposed to the beta vista catalyst drivers from ati.com :)

Vista refuses to pick it up properly, I put it in to get the glass effect but the drivers won't install properly and Vista won't pick up the graphic card properly :(

that screen shot you posted is showing the 9800 with the MS drivers running no the ATI ones.

have you tried manually installing the driver? eg clickin the install/updte driver button and navigating to where *** ati install dumps the files?

- Remove card from Windows device managers
- Uninstall all video drivers
- Reboot
- Install only ATi drivers
- Watch nice shiny glass effect

Tried that before, I'll try that again and see if it works this time.

This graphic card is 100% working, I played Doom 3, Quake 4, Half-Life 2 etc. on it on my main PC before I got my new graphic card.

I've tried unintalling from device manager, rebooting, installing ATI drivers, rebooting but Windows always beats me to installing the drivers even though I told it not to :(

I've reseated it (I doubt it'd be working at all if it wasn't in properly.

I've gone to the update driver bit in the devide manager and installed the ATI drivers by telling it the drviers are at C:\ATI\SUPPORT\ati_LH_RC0\Packages\Drivers and also tried telling it at C:\ATI\ - both times it installed drivers and asked me to reboot but didn't work.

Not much else I can think of :(

Any ideas please?

Thanks,
Craig.

Right, I've stuck a 9200 in there rather and it's not giving errors anymore but installing the ATI drivers is still giving some language errors and stuff and I still don't get the glass effect :(

Any ideas plz?

Thanks,
Craig
