¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Gotta brand new rig the other day, Vista home basic was pre-installed.

I typed in the product key that was on the sticker on the side of the case, and all went smoothly...

A few days on, windows updates & activation done, etc...

Now I get a box coming up saying "Windows Key Already in use"!

What on earth? Have MS got their wires crossed or is this a common vista issue?

have u upgraded something like your hdd or cpu or ram? if u have thats why...

Sorry for not getting back sooner.

It's a brand new machine, the first thing that happened once I'd turned it on was a screen asking for the product key.

I did upgrade the gfx card from onboard GFX to a geforce 7300, as the onboard wouldn't do 1400 x 960. :)

Could this be why it's asking to be activated again?

Just phone up MS and say you've done a reinstall, they'll give you a code wthout a problem most of the time. The OEM license allows you to upgrade everything but the motherboard so legally you're fine :)
