Vista activation?

Gotta brand new rig the other day, Vista home basic was pre-installed.

I typed in the product key that was on the sticker on the side of the case, and all went smoothly...

A few days on, windows updates & activation done, etc...

Now I get a box coming up saying "Windows Key Already in use"!

What on earth? Have MS got their wires crossed or is this a common vista issue?

have u upgraded something like your hdd or cpu or ram? if u have thats why...

Sorry for not getting back sooner.

It's a brand new machine, the first thing that happened once I'd turned it on was a screen asking for the product key.

I did upgrade the gfx card from onboard GFX to a geforce 7300, as the onboard wouldn't do 1400 x 960.

Could this be why it's asking to be activated again?

Did you change the GFX after activating, then it came up on the next restart of putting the GFX card in?

Just phone up MS and say you've done a reinstall, they'll give you a code wthout a problem most of the time. The OEM license allows you to upgrade everything but the motherboard so legally you're fine
