I'm trying to install the drivers for my X1950 pro but the message 'setup will only run in administrtor mode' appears ----- My account is an administrator account!!!!!

Any ideas please??

why is this? Is the account called "Administrator" slightly better than my admin account called "Thomas"? Seems stupid - I should just delete "Thomas" and log in as "Administrator" when I want to do admin - it doesn't appear on the welcome screen though :( only in safe mode. (I use "Tom" most of the time, which is a user account)

Having the same problem myself, got a user 'admin' account that i use day to day that works fine with everything. But Newsleecher doesnt like it and will only run on the 'true' admin account.
Only problem is my user 'admin' account is setup perfectly with all the programs/desktop i want and i cant seem to be able to copy the profile across to the 'admin' account.
The UAC is turned off. If you ask me they've made it too complicated. Why cant I just logon as admin, have no other accounts.

the only thing I can think of is that I haven't registered yet as its an OEM version and i want to make sure that all my hardware is satifactory (and transfer an antivirus package) before doing so and going on-line.

right click on my computer, select "manage". expand local users and groups. from there go to the properties of the administrator account and enable it (untick the account is disabled box). now it will show on the normal logon screen. :)

How do I copy over all the settings/programs/desktop etc etc from my normal account to the admin account?. Ive tried the 'copy' option in manage but it doesnt do anything.

Is you normal account in the administrators group?

If not, try putting it in, that may work. Having really done any digging yet into security on Vista as I have not yet had any problems.

Yeah normal account is in the admin group.
Im going to clean this machine up and do a total re-install and sort it all out, its a mess at the minute.

If i try by going into the change user group it shows me as just a user and will not allow changes to that setting---this is very frustrating.

I'm on HP - how do i enable the "administrator" account on the login screen? I don't have groups or anything as far as I'm aware.

Also, I haven't had any problems with newsleecher on my standard non-admin account.
