I gather you have UAC turned off ;)

Turn UAC back on, reboot, install adobe.

Then turn UAC back off :D

This is a known fault with Adobe Reader/Vista/UAC.
Google it, I'm sure you'll find the answer.

Never mind.

Code:
To solve this problem, perform the following steps:

1. Download the Adobe Reader installer from adobe.com. When you are prompted to run or save the file, choose save. Save the file to your desktop.

2. On the Desktop, double-click the AdbeRdr80_en_US file, click Run.

3. Please wait while the Adobe Reader setup is being processed.

4. When the Open File - Security Warning dialog displays, do the following:

a. Click Start.

b. In the Start Search window, type c:usersusername\AppData\Local\Low\Netopsystems\temp then click on the link to open the temp folder.

c. Drag the Adobe Reader 8.0 folder to your Desktop and close the search results window

d. Click Cancel in the Open File - Security Warning dialog.

e. Click Cancel when the operation was canceled by the user dialog appears.

5. Open the Adobe Reader 8.0 folder on your desktop.

6. Double-click the AcroRead file to start the Adobe Reader installer.

7. Click Run-->Next-->Install
