Vista and 5.1 sound in games?

Hi all

I just built my new pc with Vista 64bit, but I cant get 5.1 to work in games. I have ALC889A on board sound with the latest driver. I also have a Creative 4 sound card that I could try, but I have heard that has problems as well.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is there anyway to get 5.1 working with games Like counter strike?

Well all X-FI issues seem to be fixed in Vista, would hope your Creative card would work by now, if not visit here : http://www.youp-pax.org/index.php

Have they given full support for the different mode interfaces yet? or is it still just the audio console?

If you mean using creative Alchemy , no clue as all games so far I have ran on Vista are OpenAL so not needed it.
