Vista and admin?

i have just got a hp laptop with vista home prem on it and i am trying to run a few programs that need admin rights but when i made a user at the start i was the admin but it still says am not how to i get round this?

p.s its running SP1 aswell
 
If you keep UAC on (which you should, even if it's in 'quiet mode') everything will run as standard user unless you tell it otherwise (right click, run as admin) or it's Vista aware and knows how to request permission itself (will throw a uac prompt or auto-approve in quiet mode), or Vista works out the program probably needs admin rights (files called setup.exe, for example).

This happens despite the fact you have admin rights.
 
You can also right-click on the icon, go to properties and tick the "Always Run as Administrator" checkbox. Pretty sure this will get rid of the annoying pop ups...
