Hello, i have a dell laptop that has vista on it i got given it to fix.
When i first got it, it wouldn't boot in to windows would just hang in the black screen of death after doing the load bar, then randomly Blue screening with STOP 0x000000ED UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME error - It wouldn't boot from a DVD it loads the files about to boot then hangs on the black screen, i finally got it in to the System Recovery Options, try to access c: in command prompt and get "Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
(i did some editing of the regedit and that didnt work
I tried to do a factory image restore it gets to the formatting of the hard drive and then just stops and goes back to the main System Recovery Options
Now i'm thinking the hard drive is dead or so damaged its about to die, anyone else have any more idea? any insight or has had this problem? i'd be happy to try almost anything before i go buy a new laptop hard drive.
