I'm current running a media centre downstairs connected to a plasma and it seems to be hit and miss with codec packs (and seperate codec installations) for what works well using vista.

I've tried the usual, Klite, Vista pack, along with a few others. I also tried to follow an "expert" codec install method that actually made everything ten times worse. So the question is, has anyone experienced quite as many problems as I have and if so what do people suggest?
 
You haven't actually said what the problem is!

I use the Vista Codec Package from MSFN - works great. I'd usually just use FFDShow and possibly AC3Filter, but there's a few other things in the Vista Codec Pack that I've found a few files need.
