I have had a scout around and can't seem to find a definative answer to this..
I have just got myself a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop and have tried to wipe it and install from scratch. However I keep bumping into this crcdisk.sys error and Vista won't load.
I have installed from scratch with my Ultimate x64 CD and as soon as that reboots after installing, it bluescreens with the crcdisk.sys error on the first boot. I have installed with the Vista Business x32 that came with the laptop and that installs fine, I get everything running fine until I do the updates, once I have done those it comes up with the same error!
I have installed Ubuntu on the drive and that works perfectly. I have ran memtest and done a hard drive test and they all pass, leading me to think its a problem with some update and the hardware in the laptop.
Anyone got any ideas? Would switching from AHCI to ATA help maybe?
Cheers,
Andy
