Vista and DirectX 9

Hey

When installing many of my games, (eg BF2), it pops up in the installation with a directx 9 installer. Now i realise vista comes with dx10, so my concern is that i do not want to overwrite dx10 with dx9. If i install dx9 will it overwrite or am I ok just to install it?

You can't install an older version of DX9 over a never version. Vista has DX9 too anyway, so you don't need to install it.

then we have a problem

if i click cancel on the installation for dx9c on games, it cancels the whole installation.

any ideas?

Just tell it to install DX9. It won't actually do any harm, but it'll at least fool the installer into thinking it has been installed, and will continue installing your game.
