Vista and Folding

This maybe just me......but these two really dont go together

I was using the GUI client for ages, but everytime I went to bed or went out and turned my monitor off, whenever I turned it back on, the GUI client would crash, or if I watched videos, it would crash

This made me think it was a driver problem, so I tried the console client, nope, this crashes too, just locks up completely.

I'm going to give the GPU client a whirl but I'm thinking it really isnt worth it as it would probably do the same. Plus I'm only on a lowly X1800XT so doubt it would prove very quick

Luckily my PS3 and laptop are getting me some ok points at the moment

I really want to use this Linux SMP that everyone is using with VMware. But I have no idea how to set either of them up, never used VMware before or Ubuntu. I've seen a guide on installing SMP on Ubuntu but I dont suppose anyone has a guide for setting up VMware then Ubuntu on that, plus, would it even work on Vista?

Cheers guys

Hi Steedie,

I am using Vista x64 and the SMP beta client and it is working great. Never had a crash or lockup due to folding so I am not sure why you are having issues.

When does the SMP client lockup for you? IS it just random or after a WU is finished and it tries to download a new one?

With regards to VMware, the new workstation beta supports Vista but the free VMware server is a bit hit and miss. Until they release the new VMware server I am gonna stick with running Ubuntu x64 by dual booting.

Hi mate,

Am yet to try the SMP client, will give that a go now, see what happens

Basically its random when it locks up, like it went all last night and most of this morning, then all of a sudden, total crash

Then other times it can be straight after Windows boots up
