Vista and Games sound issues

Hi guys,

I have installed Vista Home Premium with no problems (apart from BIOS updates!).

The problem I am having is with games. I have tried Supreme Commander demo and Company of Heroes and both crash a few seconds in. I have no problems with sound in windows.

I think it is a sound issue but no amount of drivere tweaking helps!

I have a Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI mobo and have tried the following RealTek drivers:

6208_Vista_APO
6213_Vista_APO
Vista_R156 (although I am not too sure what this version is!!)

No joy :(

Any ideas? Do we just have to wait for better drivers? Would a dedicated sound card fix this instead of using on board sound? Quake runs fine so is it a feature of newer games?

Cheers,

Melks

I use those driver the 6213_Vista_APO they are not great because i can t get my 5.1 to work with them so i use my headphone till they have a better driver out.

and those drivers u said Vista_R156 they are no gd for u or i they are for HD audio.

So is anyone else having games crashing due to sound issues?

At the moment I can only use a few games, so if supreme commander doesn't work this Friday I will be going back to XP!!

Any thoughts on an add in sound card? would this enable me to get round the onboard sounds issues or do these cards have the same driver problems?
