I am thinking about upgrading to VISTA and am concerned about the problems that this might have with the games that I play.

I mainly play:

CCS (Most concerned about)
Oblivion 4
Pro 6
BF2 and 2145

Thanks!

I can't speak for other games, but I know Oblivion and BF2142 work fine. You will need to run BF2142 in administrator mode (you do this by going into the compatibility tab once you've gone into the properties of the game.exe - very easy to do), but apart from that, works perfect.

Obblivion and BF games work fine, CSS works well, but the FPS is lower than XP, sometimes quite a lot, but its never below 60 for me.

How much lower as my rig isnt the greatest as it is?

Why are there so many complaints about vista then, is it just for certain drivers?

Partially because people are idiots (see the I Love Vista thread for some sparkling examples), and partially because nvidia's first batch of drivers for vista were really flaky, especially on higher end cards. At this stage though, you'd generally be hard pressed to see more than a few fps difference.

32 bit or 64 bit?

Everything I've tried works fine on 32 bit. In january my FPS was terrible but nVidia drivers have improved to the extent that any FPS difference is only a couple of frames. I believe some people have reported higher fps in oblivion.

Oblivion does crash sometimes when I quit or minimize, but it always did that for me in XP. If anything it's crashed less.

Funny enough I'm not sure that the worms games do work on vista... I should know really given that I own a worms community site, but not tried to install them.

Strange, it must be down to nVidia problems.

Saw a massive drop in FPS on BF2142 when using Vista. Ended up going down the dual boot route.

nVidia card ? Mine stayed about the same as far as I could tell, plus the audio quality is a massive improvement when running on Vista.

"pro 6"? i assume you mean pro evo? there is no vysnc for pro evo6 with my x1950pro. the ati drivers don't have the option to force it on....

but i've got used to it and can play with the tearing on screen. :o
