lol, great !!

now im still confused lol

did you have to update anything first m8?

Didn't have to do anything, it just worked?

I've never had to install drivers, so I can't see how it can't be supported. I really can't think of anything, latest network drivers installed?

ive downloaded the latest uli lan drivers from asrock, but when it starts to install it says something like lan device not found????
maybe not the right driver

so are we saying then that my router wont work with vista ?
if it will can someone point me in the direction of the network drivers, if it wont, id best go shopping!

Heyhey wait, why will any router not work under Vista? Surely its the wireless card that makes the difference.

^ the only way I could connect to the internet using my 834g on vista was by using this setting in network properties

A router's a router's a router. There's no compatibility issues, it supports TCP/IP and will therefore work.

Fortunately, I know exactly what your problem is - I had that motherboard up until a few weeks ago.

What you'll find is that your onboard NIC is at fault - it's not picking up an IP, is it? The Vista drivers for that NIC are woeful, and until ASRock fix it it's going to irritate you.

Temporary bodge fix: Put the PC in standby (Start and hit the Power button). Wait for it to go into standby. Wake it up. Hey presto, your internet works. (This is, of course, assuming you managed to get drivers installed for the NIC)

Slightly better fix: Get a PCI NIC until they sort the drivers out.

That thread might help - apparently some fixed drivers, although one poster says they don't work on the dual-SATA2 (which I can't quite believe, considering both boards use the same chipset)

Yeh I seen it ta mate. Dont know if they have improved anything for me, but I installed them and have had no problems. But like you said, their both the same chipset.
