anybody installed the ntl broadband installer with vista, if so please let me know how to do it ,mine disk does not work with vista it says that the nic controllers are missing, but they seem to be there .any help please?

You don't need anything on that NTL disk at all. It is all rubbish.

If you are using a set top box and find that you try and connect to NTL but are presented with nothing... you need to re-register your MAC address at http:\\autoreg.autoregister.net\start.html

Once you have done this, power cycle your STB and try connecting again. :)

If this PC has already been connected to NTL as an XP PC, then there is nothing new that is needed.

Got NTL and Vista and done more installs than I care to remember, never had any issues...

May be diff if its the first time though

perhaps the op likes annoying apps sitting in his taskbar using up resources when they dont need them :)
No... I expect it is just like every other user who gets ISP disks. They all assume that there is something worthwhile on the disks and they don't realise that they are full of rubbish. :)

AOL, BT Yahoo, Orange, NTL!!! ARGH!! These are all awful for the excessive piles of kack that they dump on your PC. Usually with the aim of slamming you with adverts or dragging you through their home page portal

BT Yahoo is rapidly catching up with AOL at the size of it's bloatware. All having nasty effect on the speed on the customer's old PC.

Funnily I helped someone setup their NTL modem by phone last week. My instructions started as "You know that USB cable? Throw it across the room. Now for the CD. What? You put it into the PC? Take it out again, and throw it out of reach. Ideally behind the sofa. Done that? Now we can start....." :D

Best thing you can do is take your NTL cd and throw it in the bin. Then get a router. I've got NTL as well, you don't need that CD to access your account.

This is just what i do, the crap that gets installed from the installation CDs is unreal, and as for connecting the modem with USB, well, need i say more.

You don't even need a router. Just make sure you use the ethernet port on the modem.

If you absolutely must use the USB, then find *drivers* only for it, make sure none of the crap bloatware reaches your PC.

I'm trying out Vista RC2 on a spare HDD and I can't access my NTL mail. I've put in the same user name and password as with XP on my other HDD.

Vista only took half an hour to install on a 80GB PATA HDD I took out of my Freeview PVR. I assumed it formatted the drive to NTFS.

I got Avast anti virus to work and my C-Media onboard audio ok, it's just my mail at the mo.

Internet works fine. I have a Router.

Any ideas?
