At the weekend the Wife was looking at getting herself a Laptop.. as she's a bit impatient we went into the 'Purple Shirt' brigades shop and had a look!...

She found a nice Toshiba she liked and asked a few questions of one of the numpties who lurk at the ends of the shelves...

After she got her info I (after putting her straight on a few thing he said) was a bit confused about one point he made!... He said that when getting a PC with Vista on, if you wanted MS Office (as the wife does) you HAVE to get Office 2007 as anything before that wont work!!... We have a copy of Office 2003 Pro that I was going to install on the laptop for her...

I'm confused!... Do I have to fork out £100 (of what ever) on a copy of Office 2007 or will the copy of Office 2003 I bought (before 2007 came out!) actually work with Vista (Home Pro 32bit)

Cheers
Sim :)

As Office97 still works on XP (shock horror!) I think you will find that 2003 will work on Vista - best way is to give it a try, I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

Office 2003 works like it would on XP, perfectly fine. Sounds to me like the purple shirt brigade trying to scam a little bit more money.

Thought as much!.. The Lappy was £500 (minus a penny) without the waste of money 'Service Pack' thinngy...

They probly wanted to offset the cost of that cos we didn't want it!!..

There was an issue between Outlook 2003 and Vista, but that was fixed with an update.
Unfortunately the drones haven't had their update so they are working on old info.

They're untrained numpties. Suggesting that they were right for once was your first mistake ;)

I've run office XP/2003 and 2007 all successfully on Vista 64.
