Hi, I have no RAID configuration ... but was curious in asking whether during the installation of vista from a fresh formatted hard drive, it should pick up the hard disk straight away, but thats using the microsoft drivers, im wondering whether it would be better to use the chipset's (nForce) drivers or just stick with microsoft's? Would there be any advantages of isntalling the Nforce SATA drivers by clicking 'have disk' even if the hard drive is identified and seen by windows using microsoft's sata drivers? Thanks!

yeah from past experience using manufacturer's drivers gives more options and feels more complete compared to microsofts standard drivers. For exmaple I had a nvidia card and for all this time iv been using windows update as the nvidia drivers, but then used nvidida's directly from thier site and it gave me more options like tilt 90 degree's etc...so this is why im asking if its better to use manufacter's rather then microsoft's sata drivers, thanks!

Performance wise it should be about the same. The only reason I would change is if a specific feature was supported in the drivers.

I'm currently using the Microsoft ones and not had a problem. Windows Update as well is very good for updating out of date drivers so I just use that.
