Vista and spyware

With XP I used to be a Spyware and Adware fanatic. I used around 10 different programmes to get the nasty buggers out my PC once per week. Ive tired using the same programmes with Vista and ended up re-installing due to then taking out files they shouldnt have done.
Is there any need to use such protection in vista,if so what. Currently I have Nod32 and Windows Defener, will this do the job?

Hi, Windows Defender Is the better one to stick with, although try Lavasoft Adware beta which i believe is for Vista.

I run with exactly the same software and I've has zero problems
