Vista AVI Problem

Just installed Vista...and for some reason it wont play AVI files/divx.
I have installed the Vista Codec pack (latest)...then tried with also AC3 filter, Divx codec and XVid codec ...still doesnt work!

Any ideas???

Try ffdshow, or use a better player like media player classic or vlc.

I could...but with the right codecs and WMP the you should have any problems. I used the same combination with XP but its not happening with Vista. Id prefer to get it working with WMP

ffdshow will work with WMP.

Install FFDshow and have it decode xvid/divx etc codecs.

Thanks...but for some strange reason its workin today....all files in WMP????? I installed a few extra updates...that must have helped.

Thats what I thought, but wmp11 just jams at random intervals for me crashing the whole pc.
