Vista Basic Disk Image

Hi

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do here. I have an acer laptop which I am trying to fix. I have the recovery CD's but all they give me is an error when trying to restore Vista Basic and the restore fails. I have the cd key as its on the bottom of the laptop. How would I go about getting a disk image of Vista Basic so I can use my key to get this macine going again?

Not sure whether Acer use OEM or Retail media. Their key's wont work with each other. You could possibly get someone elses OEM/Retail disc and use that, obviously using your own key.

But you're probably going to have a few problems with drivers and original Acer software (not necessarily required). Might be best to stick these on a pen drive and then installing them after. Should be able to get them of the Acer support site.
