Windows Vista Beta 2 Customer Preview Program?

Hi, just wanted to ask a quick question.

My dad was away at a conference last week and got to copies of the above title in hid doggy bag, does anyone know what this is?

Is it just a take through or is it actually a copy of Vista?

it's a full beta 2 copy of ultimate. you can still install it but it expires at the end of may or june. i forget which. :)

i had no problems running it but since then we've had rc1, rc2 and the final release so it's come a long way since then. seems odd that's it being given away now? :p

Cheers mate.

Is it worth getting a copy and installing it? Problem is the current version of XP i've got is from his work, so the data disk is just passed round and a fee is added on when you update at M$, getting the disk is tricky.

I really would recommend installing the retail version as the beta 2 will probably have a lot of bugs and gremlins.

It's not expensive for the OEM version if you fancy a new OS.

Am not going to buy a copy, ive never bought a copy of Windows in my life as my dad gets them in about 15months of the new versions release for free, but getting the disks is hard, to cleansweeping is a total nightmare.

Well maybe with Vista you could make an exception - £80 I doubt will break the bank and you'll have your own copy.

Installing the beta now would be silly.

I wouldn't touch the Beta - majorly buggy and took ages to do the upgrade install on my machine - i.e. overnight. If you don't have the original XP disc you will regret installing it.

Either install the full retail copy of Vista or LEAVE IT ALONE. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
