hi all i have a problem when vista is booting up past the loading bar screen sometimes not always the system hangs when about to boot into desktop?, a mouse pointer appears and the screen is black for about 30-45 seconds then the vista circle icon appears then desktop loads?
is this a known problem or just my system?

Many thanks in advance

I am having the same problem after loading avast from a fresh build. It was fine to start with now I'm getting the long loads.

Hmmmm even an extensive google search throws up hundreds of people with the problem but very little in the way of a fix.

Nearest I could get was this forum....

I've left mine at work to play around with again tommorow. Quite a few people on my searching seem to think its a driver issue. The trouble is it happens every so often not all the time so will take some effort to find the cause.

I had this problem on my laptop. I did the following and haven't had a problem since:

- uninstalled graphics drivers
- rebooted
- installed latest drivers

Hope that helps.

I also have this exact problem. Which forceware driver are you using?

Seems to be no problems in the viewer. I get the vista green bar go about 5 or 6 times then get a black screen with mouse cursor central screen for bout 10 secs then get my desktop. Dont get it on my other install:confused:

I get this issue too. If the mouse pointer does show then it will often be in a frozen state, then all of a sudden dekstop opens and all is fine. I havent atributed to anything but concidered it may be the ati driver or the razor mouse driver as a it always puts an error in event viewer (something related to the razor driver).

Having setup a fresh install inside VirtualPC the long black screen is their too, so hard to say if its something easily solvable.
