Hey,
I've downloaded the vista iso file from MSDN and I'm trying to burn it to DVD so its bootable as my laptop is spazzing out...have got Nero 9 and MagicISO. Has anybody got any idea how I would go about doing this?

Thanks!

Hi,
Thanks for your help. Ive downloaded Imgburn... Just not sure what options to select to create the boot disc..
I just want to reinstall windows as everything is going wrong with my laptop..driver issues mainly. I attempted a burn earlier and the install didnt work, which I realised was due to the disc not being bootable. So using imgburn.. which options would I need to select please?

:)

well fire it up, options across the top you're looking for 'Mode', click on that on the menu that comes up pick 'Ez-Mode Picker' and then choose 'Write image file to disc' - finally just select your iso and burn!

Thanks very much...that worked.. although now nothing is displaying after the fresh reinstall.. But Vista is making all the right sounds.. think my graphics card has packed up. Oops

Beware laptops can contain hidden partitions that prevent installations after a regular format. In such cases you'll need to use a bootable tool to correctly wipe out all partitions, a regular format won't always cut it.

Had this with my previous bosses laptop, i **** myself when it would'nt let me run the install. Grabbed a tool online, plonked in on a floppy disk and booted up into the tool, ran a full wipe of the drive and install went perfect.

Just a warning to anyone considering doing the same. Also be sure you can download all the drivers you need before you go wiping the drive. Not all models will have the drivers readily available.
