Been given a laptop tonight which has Vista HP on. Don't know what state, SP1 or 2, I have no idea.
Basically, when you turn it on, you just get the Vista load bar and it never gets past that. If you safemode, it won't boot either, stopping on the crcdisk.sys file I think.
I have tried to insert a USB stick with Vista SP2 on and boot from it. I can do this and I choose repair, it says that there are no problems detected. Also, if I go past this and try the upgrade option as per some of the online methods, the Upgrade option is greyed out. I assume because it might not be SP2 on there.
Is there another way I can try?
