Hey, well the title says it all.

It may be a problem I caused by installing incorrectly, But this is what I keep getting on startup,

..which is basically, Floppy Diskette Seek Failure, press F1 to continue or F2 to enter set up, Pressing F1 makes windows boot up normally and ive had no problem for some time with this option. F2 opens the bios and my boot order is currently shown as

Not sure if that is right, or what the "Not Presents" mean.

This has occured since I installed Vista some time ago, I originally had XP and used a Dell Vista upgrade assistant disc and a Vista Upgrade disc, Now when I did this it wasnt pretty, cant remember what it did but it diddnt work and I ended up losing a fair bit of stuff.
So, this is where I may have gone wrong, I booted straight from the upgrade disc and installed vista as you would anything else and it worked, bar that little boot up problem that is little more than an annoyance...but an annoyance that is starting to get to me, hence me being here :)

So any ideas how to fix this problem are greatly appreciated. One thing I wanted to try was just a clean install of Vista again, But Im not sure if these upgrade discs are any different than regular ones and im not sure on how many times windows CD keys can be used etc.

(Apologies for my lack of a good camera and knowledge :) )

This can happen when the floppy drive is failing. If you disable the floppy drive in the bios it would obviously go away.

When you proceed to windows does the drive even work?

EDIT: Also this (afaik) happens before vista even begins its boot process so the OS is probably unrelated.

Doh!

Sorry, seems I was looking for the wrong thing entirely. Shows how ignorant I am when it comes to looking through a bios, Everytime ive been looking for the problem ive had Floppy set in stone as an old floppy drive no matter what and thinking what?! as I dont have one and coulnt find one in the bios.

Seems it was my media card reader thing and yes, It does seem to have stopped working as well.

But thanks a lot, Ive turned it off and it works smoothely again now, thanks.

Good to hear you fixed it :). It's always best to isolate things in the bios to diagnose problems.
