Vista Bootmgr is missing

ok i have the 32bit retail version of ultimate. i formatted my drive installed it. everything is fine and dandy except this. if i remove the dvd from my drive i can not boot into widows the message is:

bootmgr is missing press
ctrl + alt + del to restart

if i put my disc back in i can boot normally. can someone please help with this?

I have two hd one is Maxtor 300GB (For vista Os) letter c:
and the second one is RaptorX (empty) letter D:

is it to do with the letters ? or do I need to change/edit something ?

the boot manager is pointing to D: drive and the d: drive is empty. nothing is stored in there.

i will try your ways first.

I couldn't fix it. going to reformat, take out the D: drive and reinstall vista using one drive.

yep, you are right,

I fixed it anyway:

RaptorX (d: drive) has the bootmgr, so I changed the hard drive boot priority in bios to raptorX #1 and maxtor(c

to #2. and it worked.

Phnom_Penh, its nearly impossible to move the bootmgr files from one drive to another. its been blocked somehow ?
