hi there all, need a big helpy hand here!! right to the problem.. well i received my free dell vista upgrade cd to the Vista business edition,

my system as follows..
E521 Dimension
AMD X2 3800
1GB RAM
300gb Hard drive
Windows XP Pro

Now Vista business upgrade installs perfectly all going good, then it comes to the restart to complete the installation but it doesn't complete, when the windows loading screen is on, the BSOD! comes up for a only a slight second and restarts again, and same thing happens all over again, anyone know off this problem???

try the repair startup disk option on the cd. did it BOSD before the OOBE or after? I don't know dells OEM build that well, but if its anything like other OEM builds I seen; they my be a bios update thats needed. To be honest from what I have seen of OEM upgrade discs; at lot of them are the full versions of the vista cd with an OEM key. The Compaqs one dont even ask for a product key nor did a dell copy I came across.

have ya left any USB devices plugged in ? I have had a few that do this, I unplugged everything bar the keyboard/mouse, screen, even took out the sound card, / other PCI cards.

Ya still might have to do a complete reinstall, with this set up ( had to once or twice), other times its worked with a reboot.

Hop that helps ya.

Sorry arter reading my post, It does not read well :)

Leave those in, ( or if you can use non USB KB/M in the PS/2 ports)

But remember to also take all the internal PCI cards ( not GFX), and anything else connected non system vital.
