Having a nightmare with Vista 32bit on a machine I've just built. Basically, I can't install any apps. I end up with the ".exe has stopped working message". Everything else on the machine works fine, all the installed .exe files work without a problem. So far its stopped me installing Acrobat Reader, graphics card drivers etc.

I've tried turning off DEP, turning off UAC, right clicking and selecting running as admin. Tried a reinstall of Vista and its still the same. Is there anything else software wise I can have a go at?

Hardware wise I've swapped out the RAM, ran with one stick of RAM etc, still nothing.

My first ever x64 install did exactly the same thing, as well as failing to windows update and things just getting more and more broken by the minute. after a few hours i reinstalled. Same thing again.

Had to get a new physical vista dvd and reinstall to fix it in the end. :(

Hm, don't like the sound of that :(.

Put XP on it and it works fine, think I'll wait for SP1 to get released before trying Vista on it again, theres obviously something on there it doesn't like.
