Hi,
I have problem to install Vista. Using Gigabyte DS3 Nec 3540A DVD RW and Samsung HD321KJ. After pressing INSTAL few seconds later it asks for CD/DVD device driver. I tried all Sata drivers for Vista from Gigabyte website but no luck. My DVD drive set as master. Any clues

can you install it via booting from cd (put it in your pc, then restart the pc, you should see a "press any key to boot from cd or dvd" option")

It boots, transfers some data after that select language follows by Install and after pressing INSTAL this stupid thing with DVD device driver not found. Please insert manufacturer CD, floppy. After inserting floppy it finds driver, but after checking same again DVD device driver not found.
I think it could be specific to Gigabyte ds3 motherboard.

First, make sure your BIOS is updated to the latest - a lot of these sort of issues were fixed in BIOS updates.

If this doesn't fix it, then you may need some drivers: I'm not familiar with the DS3, but I imagine it doesn't have a built in IDE controller for you DVD drive (which is IDE, am I right? I think I have the same model). In which case you'll possibly need drivers for that controller and/or drivers for the Intel SATA controller.

If both are set to IDE mode (rather than AHCI) and you have the latest bios neither should be necessary really.

If you're still stuck after trying all that, you can install XP first and perform a clean install of Vista from there.

BIOS is the latest one F10. I think I will install XP and after that Vista.
Do I need to connect to internet to perform upgrade from XP to Vista?
