Hi, lets say I have a zip file, but I want to burn it onto a dvd as an iso, if I remember correctly in XP I just had to rename the file.zip to a file.iso but this dosent work in Vista because it still reads it as a zip.
I googled and tryed to find an awnser but I could only find programs that would make it so that all zip files are read as iso's but this isnt what I want.
Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks

If you rename a .zip file to .iso it is still a .zip file and you can't burn it to CD as an .iso.

WHat are you trying to achieve?

Thats my problem. I want to make it read as an .iso file and not a zip file. In XP all I had to do is rename it, but that dosent work anymore.
What im trying to achive is to get it to be read as an iso and not a zip.

Have you tried doing this: press ALT to show the menu bar, go to Tools, Options and untick the 'Hide extensions for known file types' then rename the file?

Will that work the same as burning it as an ISO would?
Dude,

Just burn it however you want!

  • If you want to see a .zip file when you put the CD into your computer - Burn the .zip file.

  • If you want to see the contents of the .zip file when you put the CD into your computer - Extract the .zip FIRST, then burn the files.

Why you want to burn it "as an ISO would" is beyond me.

That, or go to the organise button > Folder and search options > view >uncheck the same thing. Otherwise it just changes the name, not the file type.

Okay thanks guys I got it :) I went in through tools and then folder options then clicked show file extensions and I could change it from there
