In Windows XP, you can remove previous updates by deleting the blue hidden folders \$*.*
Can you do the same for Vista, where are they located?

Installed updates, from update menus, then select update and uninstall.

I don't think that is what badbob wanted to do as that will delete the patch from the system, and usually you will want to keep your system fully patched.
With Windows XP when you delete the $ blue folders it will remove the files that came with the patch and if I remember correctly it will also stop you from being able to uninstall the patch.

I'm afraid I don't know if its ok to delete them under Vista or if it will break your system. I think all the patch stuff is stored under x:\windows\winsxs

But as I said I don't know if its a good idea to delete anything in there.

Yeah that's what I meant, no point keeping previous updates if you've installed them.

Going back to XP, I'll try deleting that Winsxs folder. If it splats... :-) Roughly 4GB big.
