vista codec pack has failed me.

Tried uninstalling vista codec pack and just installed xvid codec and still no sound. Anyone got any ideas? I know the files work and there xvid.

You will need the right audio codec installed/enabled in ffdshow. Open the xvid file with 'GSpot Codec Information' this will tell you what type of audio stream is in the avi wrapper i.e. mp3, ogg, etc.

Also you could try k-Lite codec pack.

installed an ac3 still doesn't work.
also tried ffdshow, still no sound. what the hell is going on.

Korean Media player - not used anythign else in 3 years, never failed to show 100% of even most obscure Media files and never once needed a codec pack.

Cant understand why people use them to be honest?

Im sorry AcidHell2, but I really thought that you are one of those that we can look up to... Clearly if that is a truthful answer, then I have been mistaking you for someone else!

it's great for simple play back. Nice easy to use interface and works in vista media centre. So yes it is my video player of choice.
it is a rubbish music player though.
