Both my computers (vista 32 and 64) have an infuriating problem.

For periods of time that become more frequent the longer the computer is on, connection to the internet times out, it usually happens each time for about 2 minutes before returning. When it happens it gets stuck on "Looking up www.abitrarywebsite.com", so it clearly can't even connect to dns server. Network activity drops to 0 aswell.

Now its not network issues as it happens in my uni room and on campus, initial thought was its a virus as both my computers act the same and I do network them together to swap data. However AVG came up clean :(

Any ideas?

Ok this is still an issue and I'm close to reinstalling the bloody operating system for such a stupid problem :@

Its more an issue with laptop, I think its gone on main comp.

AVG: Clean
Spybot S&D: Clean
Adaware: Clean
Defender: Clean

:(

Same with IE.

When it happens the network and sharing centre shows I have only local access, no internet. Then it shows internet has returned, I try to load a website which sits on connecting...blah blah blah and then network and sharing shows internet has been lost again!!!

I have reinstalled the network card which yielded no help.

This is so annoying it's untrue, it has got much worse now, pretty much do not have internet on my laptop now :@:@:@

/edit, pings and tracerts run (with great latency) but with lost packets.
