Vista,Control Panel wont open?

I installed Vista Business 32-bit and sometimes the Control Panel wont open(window pops up and then closes after a sec),same thing happens with windows update.This is usually fixed with a restart or 2.How can I fix this?

i had the same problem - did a reinstall and its okay for the time being (4 days)

It maybe some software you are installing - i read that Nero or Alcohol may cause the problem - have you got any of them installed?
