Can anyone please help me fix this problem, have googled various solutions with no luck.

As you can see the icons aren't showing right, don't know why it happened, got home from work today and they were like this. As you can see the original icon appears to be "underneath" so not sure what's going on.

The only icons on my desktop that are showing correct are the default folder icons, the recycle bin and my site design folder which has a preset thumb.

All help greatly appreciated :D

argh this happened to me a while back, some how the "icon overlay" which is a transparent icon with the little arrow was corrupted ... i used a similar method to above, although i found a batch file to do it all for you, seemed to work a treat

System restore to yesterday?

Tried it, no joy :(

You should try to rebuild the icon cache to flush out any corrupted icons and attempt to restore them:

This should help:

Did this twice and it didn't work :(

You're my best hope...where did you get the batch file?

I would suggest using a tweak to remove the shortcut arrows and see if this fixes the problem. Try searching for one on google.

It does appear to be a corruption of the arrow overlay.
