Vista disk usage?

Just about to install Vista, but wondering whether my current OS partition will be enough for it (with space left over for the odd program that needs to put stuff there, e.g. Visual Studio).

I've got XP Pro on a 20GB partition atm, with about 50G left on that disk that I can shift over to it if needs be. Do I need to resize?

What I mean is do I need to expand the 20GB partition using that free space – I'd rather not if I don't have to :)

Ok, thanks. Can anyone recommend decent free partition management software? Haven't had to repartition since I installed last installed Windows.

the one on the vista installer is very good. if its one disk with a current 20gb 50gb split then just make it one partition and be done with it , it will work out better in the end :)

I thought I had 50GB of unpartitioned space on that disk but it turns out I don't :o

It's actually a 160GB (read: 149GB) disk which I've partitioned into 20GB for the OS and 129GB for programs/games, which has ~60GB free atm. I'll just shift 20GB from that partition over to the OS one I think, unless you think merging them would be best :)

no don't merge them, vista will use 15% of your drive for shadow copies and system restore. So if its a big drive you'll loose a lot.
