Hi guys recently upgraded from XP to Vista 64.

Problem I got is three things

Netgear WG311 V2
Canon Laserjet LBP2900
MSI bluetooth 6967 dongle

All these devices do not work on Vista if I can't find the right drivers should I give up and replace them?

Have a look on the Canon website for Vista drivers. If it's an old printer though, you might be out of luck.

The Netgear wireless card will work with XP drivers, you just have to force Vista to use them. May also be able to find generic drivers for the Bluetooth dongle too, based on what chipset it uses.

Hi according to the website the canon printer isn't supported

now when you say force installing the network card
what do you mean?

I installed the XP drivers I had but it made no difference to device manager, I also tried manual install but Vista doesn't find the driver in the folder I saved the drivers in.

1st'ly Im uploading stuff so it will be slow for you.

2nd'ly It may install normally but if not, manually do it through Device Manager and Right Click the XP .ini and install that way.

3rd'ly It may not work as I cant test here.

Cheers mate will give it a try. Hope it works otherwise another £15 on a new one.
I do have another wireless card but the bad thing is it is the EXACT same model how bad is that?

Bledd, there is a chance this might not work because on the Netgear website there is NO mention of Vista on the WG311 V2 page.

I hope I am wrong though. :)

I have a Bluetooth Dongle in Vista x64 and it was simply recognised straight away, didn't ask for any drivers at all. It just uses the generic ones that come with Windows and I get full functionality with it.

What one is it though?

I don't mind the bluetooth dongle it is the wireless card that agitates me and the printer situation purely upsets me!

I'm not even sure - I got it a few years back when Bluetooth Dongles first came out (I remember getting it with my "brand new" Siemens S55 if that helps).

I expected a fight to get it working with Vista but it was just so simple. :)

As for the other two, I can't help there.

helmut..

how does that supposedly work? and how does it sign a x64 driver for vista!?

Don't know if it will pass Digital Signing but it will make a Vista 32bit driver work on Vista 64bit as I had to do for my CRT Monitor(s).

No harm in trying but ideally you want a Vista 32bit driver if your on Vista 64bit and it should work.

MS give detailed info on how to do so (some fancy wording that I cant remember) but I do it my own way so long as I can get to the .ini file.

Hello mate it will start to install the driver (something that didn't happen before)
but then at the end it says that the driver didn't install because it is on the wrong platform.

Does that mean it definitely won't work?

It got further so I may need change more BUT its an XP driver not a Vista 32bit Driver I'm trying to make Vista 64bit accept. :(

Did yours work?

Looks like I will need a new card. The last option is to look in my other pc I think it is the same card but will have to rip it open to find out :)
